North Sea Health Care BV (NSHC) is developing well. So we thought it became time for a real blog. In this first blog we thought it would be a good idea to introduce ourselves to you. The intention then is to tell something about massage and compression therapy every month.

I founded NSHC in September 2013. The reason was a request from a business relation who, after a serious illness, had developed edema in two legs. He asked me if there was any affordable equipment to treat his legs at home. We, as technologists found the equipment , at that time available on the market, incredibly expensive. We searched the entire world market and eventually ended up at the Korean company Daesung Maref, that produces and markets (medical) massage equipment under the Doctor Life brand. We had a number of devices come over and tested these with a few therapists. They were very enthusiastic.

At that time I was in the middle of the transfer process of my environmental company Oxydent to our son. And because I didn’t like retiring already, I asked Daesung Maref if I could become an importer. They thought that was a good idea and that’s how I started NSHC.

We have been a supplier of IPC equipment for 9 years now. IPC stands for Intermittent Pneumatic Compression. With this technique a massage is performed similar to regular massage, but then by the user in the safe environment of his/her own home. The system uses sleeves, made up of several air chambers that alternately inflate and deflate. In this way a very good massage is obtained. In addition to leg cuffs, arm and waist cuffs are available. The technique was originally developed for the treatment of edema (this is when someone retains fluid because the natural drainage of lymph fluid is disturbed, for example after surgery). The big difference with the existing equipment is that Doctor Life is offered for such a lower price that it has also become accessible to private individuals. From a quality point of view they belong to the top. In addition to the treatment of edema, the equipment is also used by athletes to improve their fitness, and by anyone who wants to keep their legs in good condition to stay fit for as long as possible. Despite the much lower price compared to other equipment available on the market, the price still turned out to be somewhat high for this group. So we continued our search. This has led to the series of VITA massage devices that are offered on this website. In the next blog we will see for whom the VITA devices are ideally suited and how we see the developments in the future.
